Maria Falco Trust presents £50,000 to the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust

The Maria Falco Memorial Trust presented a year’s worth of fundraising in the form of a cheque for £50,000 to support breast cancer research and treatments at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Epping.

The funds were presented to Ashraf Patel from the Epping Breast Unit at the hospital’s fundraising event in October, the Masquerade Ball at Down Hall Hotel, Hatfield Heath where 120 people attended.

The Maria Falco Trust supports the Epping Breast unit in many ways including sponsoring head research nurse Ruth McCrea who is in charge of clinical trials at the unit.

It also supports Fabulous & Beautiful which is a charity funded pampering and advice session for women undergoing treatment for cancer, held at Harlow Leisure Zone.

Another support group is MBV – Mind, Body, Vitality which is for patients who have finished their treatment. It gives advice on nutrition, exercise and wellbeing moving on from their diagnosis.

The funds will go towards these programmes as well as the clinical trials.
